I agree. I came across a volume of Sergius Bulgakov's collected works and "The Corpse of Beauty" literally made the hair on my neck and arms stand up. The horror is quite so intense in re-readings but it's still there. Before reading "The Corpse of Beauty" I had not been aware of the evil in Picasso's work. So cool, so modern, so avant-garde.
I feel I have visited these works again this morning, and seen them well for the first time.
